Project: ACCA Office Refurbishment, George Square, Glasgow
Duration: 8 weeks
Client: Clark Contracts
The supply of Silestone Blanco Zeus as detailed in the Schedule of Works and Contract Documentation -reception desk, tea prep units, copier points, kitchen units in hub, tech bar and kitchen equipment.
About the project:
The office refurbishment was over 3 floors with each floor being a similar layout to each other. They all had a Large hub area for the staff to eat lunch in which had 2 main kitchen bays which had Silestone work surfaces. Each floor also had 3 copier points and 2 tea prep areas which were base units clad in Silestone both on the top and sides.
The First floor includes a tech bar area for IT staff to fix any software or computer issues the staff may have. As the images show below this was a complex shape which they tried was to make it look like part of the furniture but to be hard wearing at the same time so the designer specified that a skeleton frame be clad in 20mm Blanco Zues Siletone. The Center piece was the main Reception Desk on this floor which was clad in Silestone Blanco Zues with a 60mm thick piece of Butcher Block cantilevered from the frame clad in Siletone to give the ultra-modern look with ultimate durability.
Project: Cameron House Lodges
Duration: On-going Contract
Client: KG Installations
To Supply and install 30mm Premium Black granite during an initial 5-year contract on all programmed refurbishments in lodges on 3 sites including Cameron House, The Carrick and Slaley Hall.
About the project:
This has been a great project to be part of and we are really excited about working with Keith and his team at KG Installations over the coming years. These lodges all have a certain lifespan and require modernisation to sustain the demand. Keith and his team get the keys to a lodge for 2-3 weeks and will do a full refurbishment in that period including new bathrooms, complete overhaul of the decoration, re-wiring, new boiler and radiator system and new kitchens and that is where we come in. We manufacture and install the 30mm Premium Black Granite worktops for the new kitchens and have them templated, manufactured and installed within a small window of time to ensure that the lodges are complete for handover in as little time as possible.
Each lodge is different and bring their own challenge. The majority have 3 pieces one with a under mount sink, one with a hob cut-out and a breakfast bar with a large sweeping curve from corner to corner, with some including 100mm upstands. The access can be an issue though as some of the lodges built on the hill have kitchens on the first floor, black granite is very dense is extremely heavy so it takes our highly skilled fitting team to use all their knowledge and experience to negotiate these worktops round tight stairways safely.
Project: Boclair House Hotel
Duration: 12 weeks
Client: Manorview Development
From the client brief, our client required 12 highly bespoke bathroom vanity units, rather than your standard one size fits all design concept approach carried out by most hotels. We were also commissioned to manufacture granite and marble products for the 3 public toilets and the restaurant/function bar tops.
About the project:
We sourced 17 incredible different materials for the project including a stunning double ogee bar top with downstands in Silver Paradiso Granite complete with a 180mm ogee skirting detail in the same material. Star Galaxy Granite was used for the most stunning master bathroom within its honeymoon suite. This featured a tower shower that would fall overhead at 6 meters to submerge its user with an invigorating rainfall effect.
Even the design of the public toilets differed from one another. The Gents toilets featured a stunning hexagon piece in Carrera Marble with bullnose edging, mitered upstands as backings for their wall hung taps and stunning mitered downstands to the floor. The Ladies toilet piece included a p-shaped bullnose curve in Star Galaxy granite. Some of the hotel room bathrooms included, a Silestone chrome vanity top with a splash back with the same material used as a surround for the bath; we also used precious honed maroon Jupiter marble in two of the bathrooms which created an amazing ambience all allure.
The end result:
The client was absolutely delighted with the results having completed as works within the 12 week programme of works on time. Due to the success of our work on the Boclair House, we were appointed as the main stone contractor on two additional on-going hotel renovation projects by the client. Not only did we manufacture and install some remarkable pieces of stone, we also build a long-lasting relationship with our client.
